Early Childhood Education

We recognize that YOU are your child's first (and best!) teacher, but we will gladly share this journey with you and do all that we can to make sure that school is a safe and fun place where your child will thrive.

Our early childhood education program provides age-appropriate education for children ages 18 months to four years old that are typically developing or have special needs. This education is guided by the Ohio Academic Content Standards for Early Learning and School Readiness and is assessable to parents on the Ohio Department of Education website. Students with special needs also receive appropriate speech, physical, and occupational therapy as determined by the IEP team.

Educator Credentialing

Christina School District teachers are licensed by the Delaware Department of Education (DOE) and participate in continuous professional development throughout the year. DOE is responsible for credentialing early childhood and K-12 professionals to work in Delaware early childcare centers, public districts and charter schools, adult education programs, and prison education facilities.

Christina's Early Childhood Education Programs Offer:

  • Safe, healthy learning environment for children
  • Positive, warm interactions between adults and children
  • Developmentally appropriate programming
  • FREE breakfast, lunch & snacks
  • Opportunities for family involvement
  • Small class sizes
  • FREE developmental screening for children ages birth-age 5
  • Half-day and full-day programs

How to Register

Developmental Screening

The first five years of life are very important, and we want to help you provide the best start for your child. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that children receive Developmental Screening at the ages of 9, 18, 24 or 30, 36, and 48 months

Children Under 3 Years Old

If your child is under the age of three years old and you have concerns regarding your child's development in any of the following areas: communication, cognition (thinking/learning), self-help (feeding/dressing), social/emotional, fine motor and gross motor skills, please:

Call Child Development Watch: (302) 283-7140

Children Aged 3-5 Years Old

The Christina School District conducts free developmental screenings for children aged 3-5.  The screening helps to determine whether a child has a potential delay as compared to others of the same age group.
