The Christina School District has three traditional middle schools and a rigorous middle school academic program, each serving grades 6-8. Also, we have two elementary-middle schools serving grades 1-8 in the District. The schools and programs offer a variety of extracurricular activities, sports, programs, and services for middle school learners. All middle schools and programs offer advanced academic courses.

Award-Winning Schools and Programs
We are proud and grateful for the recognition our middle schools receive. But don't just take our word for it! Below is a list of recent accomplishments.
- The Bayard School placed 1st in the 2019 Junior Solar Sprint Time-Trial Race
- Christiana High School and Middle School Honors Academy is only one of two schools in the state to receive the 2019 National ESEA Distinguished and 2019 Recognition School, Delaware Department of Education Award
- Gauger-Cobbs Middle School won the National BPA Cares Award and multiple students placed in the Top 10 at the 2019 BPA National Leadership Conference
- Kirk Middle School won numerous awards at the 2019 BPA National Leadership Conference:
- National BPA Cares Award
- 2 Teams placed in the Top 10 - Administrative Support Team and Introduction to Video Production Team
- Students placed in the Top 10 in numerous categories
- Kirk also received several Chapter Awards for activities conducted throughout the year for Community Service, Environmental Awareness, Marketing and Promotion, and Chapter Activity Award of Excellence
- Shue-Medill Middle School is the only middle school to receive Positive Behavior Support Project, Phase 4 Recognition for the 2018-19 school year and is a 2019 Compassionate Champion Award winner, one of the first in the State of Delaware. Watch the video!

Cambridge Secondary I Curriculum at The Bayard School, Gauger-Cobbs MS, Kirk MS, and Shue-Medill MS
At the middle school level, our traditional middle schools serving students in grades 6-8 offer an advanced academic curriculum based on the Cambridge Secondary I Program in English, Global Perspectives (Social Studies), and Science, as well as advanced mathematics courses, that allow 7th and 8th grade students to earn high school credits. The middle school Cambridge curriculum prepares students for any of the academically advanced programs offered at all three high schools in the Christina School District.

Chinese Immersion at Shue-Medill MS
Shue-Medill Middle School will offer Mandarin Chinese Immersion beginning with 6th grade in the 2019-2020 school year, with a full 6-8 grade middle school language immersion program by Fall 2021. Students in the Downes Elementary School Chinese Immersion program will continue their immersion education at Shue-Medill Middle School. Middle School Honors Academy at CHS
In 2016, the Christina School District launched the Middle School Honors Academy at Christiana High School, a rigorous academic program at Christiana High School for students in grades 6-8 that includes honors courses, pre-advanced placement (AP) preparation, advanced placement classes, and college-level coursework. The implementation of the Middle School Honors Academy creates a 6-12 grade Academy option at Christiana High School, which offers an Honors Academy for students in grades 9-12. All SchoolsThe Christina School District offers Boys and Girls Soccer (Fall), Boys and Girls Basketball (Winter), Girls Cheerleading (Winter), and Boys and Girls Track (Spring). Sports teams are open to all middle school students (grades 6-8.)

Clubs & Activities

All SchoolsStudents participate in dozens of clubs and student organizations. Some clubs are chapters of national organizations or activities, and students compete at the state, regional, and national levels. Other clubs are just for student enjoyment or provide a service to the community or school.
