At the August 11 Christina School District Board of Education meeting, which took place via Zoom video conference and YouTube Livestream, the Board selected new leadership for the 2020-2021 school year during its annual reorganization of the Board.
Christina board members elected Dr. Keeley Powell (Nominating District E) to serve as Board president, and Dr. Claire O'Neal (Nominating District D) to serve as vice president. Superintendent Dr. Dan Shelton was appointed as Board executive secretary.
The Board also elected the following:
Fred Polaski (Nominating District C) was elected to serve as the Board Representative to the DSBA Board of Directors; and Board alternate to the DSBA Legislative Committee.
Monica Moriak (Nominating District B) was elected to serve as the Board Representative to the DSBA Legislative Committee, Board Representative to the Citizens Budget Oversight Committee, and Board alternate to the DSBA Board of Directors.
Warren Howell (Nominating District F) was elected to serve as the Board Representative to the Early Childhood Council Board.
Alethea Smith-Tucker (Nominating District A) was elected to serve as the Board Representative to the Naming of School Facilities Committee.
During the same meeting, the Board appointed Susan Mitchell to fill the vacant seat for nominating District G. Mitchell will be sworn in during the September 8 Board meeting.
