November is Family Engagement Month, with National Parent Involvement Day designated for November 16!
November is National Family Engagement Month! This month-long celebration is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the invaluable role that families play in their children's education. As the first educators in a child's life, you have a tremendous influence on their academic success and overall well-being.
Delaware defines parent and family engagement as the intentional, inclusive, community-specific outreach to involve parents, caretakers, families and communities as partners in education. Throughout November, Christina School District will be actively encouraging and promoting family engagement in their children's learning journey. We firmly believe that when parents are actively involved in their child's education, it leads to greater achievements and a stronger sense of community.
Our schools and programs have planned various activities and resources to help you get involved and stay engaged with your child's academic progress. From informative workshops, and flexible parent conference options to fun family events, there will be opportunities for you to learn, connect, and actively participate in your child's educational experience.
Engage and Celebrate with Us!
-
Involve yourself in your child’s education by communicating regularly with your child’s teacher(s), making sure their homework is complete, and recognizing your child’s academic achievements.
-
Provide a home educational environment and space with appropriate educational supplies that is quiet, safe, and uninterrupted to maximize learning potential. Ensure and maintain the health and welfare of your children so that they can attend school regularly, motivated, on time and ready to learn.
-
Support your child’s school by volunteering and involving yourself in the educational decision-making process at the school and district level to strengthen the connection between families and schools.
-
Commit to carrying out, to the best of your abilities, the responsibilities outlined in your child’s school/parent compact.
Stay tuned for more information from your child’s school or program for updates, event schedules, and informational materials that will be shared throughout the month.
