"What Are You Doing for Others?"
Life’s most persistent and urgent question: What are you doing for others? – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Monday, January 18, is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. On this day, students and staff in Christina School District will again learn about the contributions and sacrifices of Dr. King and participate in service projects. As a District, we believe that the life lesson of giving back to others is so important. We didn’t want to miss this incredible opportunity to celebrate a great American and follow his example of service to others. Instead of using the MLK Day of Service holiday to sleep in, you can honor the life of Dr. King and turn a day off into a day of action.
Dr. King was born on January 15, 1929, and his national holiday is celebrated on the third Monday in January every year. Each year, this holiday offers us a reminder to reflect on the vital work to which Dr. King devoted his life. “Difficult and painful as it is, we must walk on in the days ahead with an audacious faith in the future,” said Dr. King.
Monday serves as an opportunity to remember and reaffirm the values of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. May these values strengthen the moral standards in our personal lives and in our nation. Thank you for your faith in our future.
There are many ways you can serve. Here are a few suggestions.
