Annual LEGO EXPO held at Leasure Elementary on March 16

The annual LEGO EXPO, hosted by the Christina School District, took place at Leasure Elementary School on March 16. Every elementary school in the District was actively involved in the 2024 Christina LEGO Expo, with 27 teams of 2nd to 4th graders showcasing their creativity and innovation. The event drew a crowd of over 400 attendees who came to celebrate the talents of our young builders.

This year's projects centered on how careers in the arts and entertainment industry actively use science and engineering to bring culture and excitement to our communities.  For months before the event, student teams practiced design, engineering, and coding skills by using LEGOs to build a project that connected engineering with the arts.

In addition to building the LEGO build, students also created a poster board to present their research about arts and design careers and their team's building process.  At the LEGO Expo, students presented their final projects to a panel of judges, practiced their public speaking skills, and answered questions about their research.

Each team received a coveted Lego trophy selected by the judges, while the West Park team clinched the "People's Choice" award!

Kudos to our Advanced Academics students and teachers for their outstanding achievements at this year's LEGO Expo! A huge shoutout to the 70+ CSD teachers and paraprofessionals who generously volunteered their time to judge and oversee various stations, ensuring a successful and memorable experience for all students involved.
