Christina School District Updates - Oct 27
Good afternoon Christina Staff,
We hope you are enjoying the fall season and the past few weeks of fantastic weather. We truly recognize that this has been a difficult year and hope that the information below will help you as you plan for the fall. Our goal is always to do what is best for our students and families while recognizing the tremendous efforts of our Teachers and Staff to ensure everyone is safe, healthy and learning. We appreciate all that each of you is doing in this very difficult time. You remain one of our greatest assets. Together, we will get through these tough times.
Here are a few updates and information we want to share with you.
November 12 - Synchronous (Remote Learning) Day
- Thursday, November 11, Christina schools and offices are closed for Veterans Day
- Friday, November 12, students will be engaged in synchronous learning at home. This will help support our operational concerns with excessive absences of staff.
- Christina’s faculty and staff will report to their school buildings on November 12.
- Faculty will ensure students are prepared and have access to the internet, Chromebook, etc. ahead of November 10th.
- Note: Keep in mind that any day that faculty are not scheduled to report to work requires an additional school day added to the end of the school year. Making this a synchronous learning day ensures your last day of school does not change.
Grading Days
On grading days this school year, faculty are permitted to work from home. 12-month employees will report to work so schools and buildings will be open for those who wish to come in.
Draft Calendar Changes
At the November 9 Christina Board of Education meeting, the Christina Board will be asked to consider the following proposed changes to the 2021-2022 District Approved Traditional and Extended Year Calendars.
The calendar committee seeks feedback on these proposed changes from students, parents, staff, and community members. Feedback can be submitted via this feedback form through November 3.
Parents, students, staff, and community members are invited to attend our Virtual Town Hall to discuss the proposed changes to the 2021-2022 calendars on Thursday, November 4 at 6:30 PM. Participants will be able to ask questions during the meeting.
We realize that these changes directly impact the plans and expectations of students and families, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience they may cause.
