Special Education Day marks the anniversary of the nation's first federal special education law signed by President Gerald Ford on December 2, 1975. It began in 2005, marking the 30th anniversary of the IDEA- the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
Children with disabilities are special and need special care and resources to aid them in their schooling and daily life. We've come a long way and now provide access to education for all children, including children with disabilities.
Happy Special Education Day!
Thank you for all you do to support students with special needs.
