Christina School District's Summer Learning
The Christina School District offers specialized summer programs to cater to the unique needs of selected students, as well as encourages all students to engage in summer reading activities. Secondary students are recommended to read preselected novels during the summer break. All programs run from Monday to Thursday, with schools and offices closed on Fridays.
Summer Reading for All Students
Students Entering Grades K-5
-
Summer Workbook: All students entering grades Kindergarten through 5 received a specially designed summer workbook, packed with engaging activities and skill-building exercises to reinforce learning and keep their minds sharp throughout the summer break.
-
SORA: We encourage families to continue with daily reading and seek out learning opportunities in the community and in your travels. Students have access to SORA throughout the summer. Have them log-on a few times per week to check out and read books. Access through students’ district class link
*Reminder: To login to classlink, use your student’s email (firstname.lastname@students.christina.k12.de.us) and your student’s ID as the password.
Students Entering Grades 6-12
All CSD students entering grades 6 through 12 were provided the required book for summer reading: grades 6-8 will read "Aru Shah and the End of Time" by Roshani Chokshi and grades 9-12 will read “The Sun is Also a Star” by Nicola Yoon. This year, as part of the reading experience, students will be required to complete a project on the summer reading novel. For more information, please read the letter sent to parents:
