Wilson Wins Scholastic Read-A-Palooza Best in State

For the second year in a row, Etta J. Wilson entered the Scholastic Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Challenge and won the title 2019 Best School in the State of Delaware.

This national contest is a free program designed to be both educational and fun to help prevent the effects of the summer slide—the learning losses that can occur during the summer months. Wilson students read 317,787 minutes and logged their minutes into the Scholastic website. This program, led by the school principal, Natalie Birch, the librarian, Donna Reed, and promoted by the Wilson PTA, made reading fun and gave students goals to challenge themselves.

To celebrate this victory, Etta J. Wilson will be listed in the 2020 Scholastic Book of World Records available for sale a Book Fairs and stores this spring. A banner will be hung in the Wilson Library, a plaque will be hung in the main office, and students will be given a certificate celebrating their efforts along with a Dog Man key chain.

 Way to Go, Wilson!
