Jeffrey Dombchik
Jeffrey Dombchik, M.I., secondary instrumental teacher at Christiana High School and Middle School Honors Academy, has been selected as the Christina School District Teacher of the Year for 2020-2021!
Jeffrey Dombchik, received a surprise on Friday morning when Superintendent Richard L. Gregg, made an unexpected announcement during the school's graduation that Jeffrey had been selected as the Christina School District Teacher of the Year for 2020 – 2021 - highlighting educational innovation, student learning, and the rewards of teaching.
The annual District selection committee chose Dombchik from an outstanding pool of building-level Teachers of the Year. He will represent the Christina School District as its District Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year, and will be in the running to be named the State Teacher of the Year by the Delaware Department of Education. The State Teacher of the Year will be announced this fall.
In addition, as an extra surprise, Mr. Dombchik was presented as the Delaware Music Educators Association’s (DMEA) Music Educator of the Year by DMEA President, Jim Tharp.
Dombchik holds both a bachelor degree in music education and a master degree in instruction from the University of Delaware. He has been a teacher at Christiana since 1995, and currently serves as the CHS Director of Bands. In addition to leading music initiatives at his school such as the steel band and two-day marching band tours, Dombchik serves as the CSD Music Co-chair, is a member of the CSD Arts Council and the CSD Music Curriculum Committee. Dombchik participates in multiple professional learning opportunities that has helped sharpen his instructional delivery.
