Statement to Our Christina Families and Staff
The Christina School District is dedicated to the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff and we want to assure you that our top priority is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone in our school community.
Our schools are places where all students should feel supported and valued, and we believe that every student deserves the right to learn and grow without fear or discrimination. This is why, several years ago, we took proactive steps to establish critical policies that ensure every individual in our district is treated with the highest level of respect and kindness.
CSD Board Policies #02.27 (CSD Policy on Transgender and Gender Diverse Students) and #02.31 (CSD Policy on Protection of Undocumented Students' Right to a Public Education) reflect our commitment to protecting the rights of every student, including those from immigrant families and those who identify as LGBTQIA+. Please know that we take these policies to heart and are dedicated to ensuring that our schools remain safe, inclusive, and welcoming for all.
We understand that some families may worry about immigration enforcement. Please know that our schools are safe spaces. While we are required by law to follow certain rules, we will never allow anyone to compromise the safety of our students during school hours or on school property. We will continue to support all students, regardless of their immigration status.
For our LGBTQIA+ students and their families, we want you to know that you are not alone. We are proud to support you and your rights. Our district actively promotes acceptance and understanding. We have programs and resources in place to ensure that LGBTQIA+ students feel safe and supported throughout their educational journey.
As a community, it is essential we stand together. We encourage you to talk with your children about these topics. Open conversations can help them feel more secure and informed about the world around them. Remind them that it’s okay to ask questions and express their feelings. If you need support in discussing these issues, our school counselors are available and ready to help.
At Christina, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment for all. We recognize that every individual brings unique strengths to our community. By working together, we can ensure that our schools remain places of learning, growth, and acceptance.
Thank you for being part of our school community. Together, we will continue to support our students, staff and each other in every way possible. If you have any questions or need assistance, we encourage you to reach out to us. Our doors are always open, and we are here to listen.
