  • Welcome to Shue-Medill Middle School Shue-Medill Middle School follows the district's mission, "Together, Educating Every Student for Excellence".

    We have worked hard to create a culture of growth mindset, trust and caring among our students and staff. We pride ourselves in being diverse and making sure we have programs that will foster success for all of our students. We believe in being diligent in all that we do at our school because it will echo for a lifetime in the heart of our students.


    Exemplary Programs

    At Shue-Medill Middle School are proud of many of the programs in our school. Although we believe many of our programs are excellent; we opt to highlight the following programs: Chinese Immersion, Music, AVID, Language Arts, Math, Positive Behavior Support (PBS), and National Junior Honor Society. The music program consists of Concert and Symphonic bands, Wind ensembles, Orchestra (Shue Strings) and a choir. We utilize PBS to reward positive behavior demonstrated by our students while reducing the number of disciplinary actions. We have implemented an Anti-Bullying program and have trained our teachers in Trauma, as well as Social-Emotional Learning. The addition of Peer Mentoring and student/teacher mentoring enhanced our existing Mentoring Program.

     


    Curriculum Highlights

    We, at Shue-Medill Middle School are proud of the many programs in our school. Here are some of the highlights: Music, AVID, Language Arts, Math, Positive Behavior Support (PBS), Student Improvement Team and National Junior Honor Society. The music program consists of Concert and Symphonic bands, Wind ensembles, Orchestra (Shue Strings), Piana, Music Programming and technology classes, guitar and Choir. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college readiness system that uses researched-based strategies to improve student learning. Students are provided with an Intervention/Enrichment Block each day. RTI (Response to Intervention) is offered during this time to all grade levels in both English and Math.
