PBS is a data-driven model, whereby discipline data is retrieved and analyzed. Positive interventions are planned, to positively affect student behavior.

PBS Tier 1
What does "Tier 1" Positive Behavior Support (PBS) look like at Shue?
At Shue Medill Middle School, more than 90% of students already practice "Tier 1" strategies. Most students possess self-discipline, most follow school rules and many help their peers and teachers!
The Shue PBS "Tier 1" team seeks ways to:
- Involve all students, parents and community members in recognizing positive behavior, both in and out of school.
- Promote student leadership through collaboration and modeling, both in and out of school.
- Grow the number of students in "Tier 1" by recognizing that all students are valuable to our community.

PBS Tier 2
What does "Tier 2" Positive Behavior Support (PBS) look like at Shue?
Tier 2 represents students who have the following characteristics:
- Recurring minor-to-moderate disruptive behavior problems
- May have accumulated discipline referrals
- May be on a behavior contract
- May have academic and/or attendance concerns
"Tier 2" outcomes include a focus on the student's return to PBS "Tier 1."

PBS Tier 3
What does "Tier 3" Positive Behavior Support (PBS) look like at Shue?
"Tier 3" Students require individualized intervention or immediate support due to:
A crisis including:
- Violence
- Substance Abuse
- Other Related Issues
"Tier 3" outcomes include a focus on a student return to
"Tier 2," followed by "Tier 1."
