Ever wonder who our school was named for? Jennie Estelle Smith was a teacher in our district for 48 years. Born in Barksdale, Maryland on June 22, 1886, she went on to attend Newark public schools and the University of Delaware. Although she retired in 1957, Miss Smith continued to be active with the Newark Schools. Our school was opened in 1958 and was named for this special educator.
