Happy American Education Week!!
Christina School District is excited to join the whole country in celebrating American Education Week from November 18-22! This week is all about honoring everyone who makes our public schools run smoothly, including bus drivers, teachers, cafeteria staff, admin, and so many others. This year’s American Education Week theme is “Together for Safe, Just & Equitable Schools.”
First observed in 1921, American Education Week was created by the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Legion to generate support for education. The U.S. Office of Education jumped on board a year later, and the PTA joined in 1938.
Each day of American Education Week has its own special focus. For example, we celebrate Education Support Professionals Day on Wednesday, November 20, and Substitute Educators Day on Friday, November 22.
American Education Week is also a great reminder of how important it is for families to get involved in their child’s education. This can be as simple as reading to your child, building a connection with their teacher, or just asking them how their day at school went. Studies show that when families are active in schools, it leads to better grades, fewer missed days, and helps parents feel more confident about their kids' learning. So let’s make the most of this week and get engaged!
