George V. Kirk Middle School, formerly known as Ogletown Middle School, was built in 1957. It has had a long and honorable history of producing some of the finest men and women in the world. The school is named for Dr. George V. Kirk, a distinguished Superintendent of Schools in the Newark and New Castle County areas of Delaware.
Our Mission Statement reflects a vision shared by parents, teachers and administrators. This vision serves as our guide as we structure our school to meet 21st century standards. The mission of George V. Kirk Middle School, a diverse and technologically progressive community of learners, is to educate each student to excel academically, while developing physically, emotionally, and socially within a safe, caring environment by setting superior academic standards and using innovative teaching methods and resources.
All Kirk Middle School students will be able to READ, COMPREHEND and ANALYZE information; and express their level of understanding as measured by the classroom assessments, district assessments, and state assessments.
