Clubs & Activities

Students at Newark High School participate in dozens of clubs and student organizations. Some clubs are chapters of national organizations or activities, and students compete at the state, regional, and national levels. Other clubs are just for student enjoyment or provide a service to the community or school.

ASPIRA
Aspira provides leadership training, cultural enrichment activities, and community action projects that teach students how to develop their abilities to become effective leaders of their communities. Through ASPIRA Clubs, students are challenged by giving them opportunities for self-direction and self-determination so that they can stretch to their full potential.

Best Buddies
Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Key Club
Key Club is an international organization that is led by students and that provides members with opportunities to provide service to the community and school, build character and increase visibility, develop leadership and friendship and improve academic achievement.

KRAWEN Yearbook
Yearbook Club gives students the opportunity to leave a lasting impression at Newark High School. Students will learn to be photographers, graphic designers, marketing planners, and financial consultants. These are all the different areas that are covered and explored while building the yearbook for the school. The goal is to create and promote the sale of the school yearbook.

Math League
We compete with other local schools either virtually or in person approximately 4 times a year. The top 10 performing students in the state get to go to the PLAYOFFs to determine the king/queen mathematician. Also, the top teams from each district engage in a team PLAYOFF to see who the best team is. The competition is tough but the reward is great for all who participate.

Have a mentor from the community who will help you be the best person you want to be. Talk, play games together, and enjoy!

National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school's commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service

Through determination and preservation, we believe Nature Society can open up the eyes of the students of the future generation to promote a sustainable practices and create an everlasting impact in the world.

SAGA - Sexuality & Gender Alliance
SAGA is about being a support community. We pledge to be here with open minds, to validate each other, and to spread awareness to our community in and out of school. We are here to support acceptance, knowledge, and inclusion.

Science Olympiad Team
Science Olympiad functions much like a football or soccer team, requiring preparation, commitment, coaching and practice throughout the year. Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events in each division (Division B is middle school; Division C is high school). Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology.

Student Government
Student Government promotes the welfare of our students and a spirit of cooperation among students, teachers, and administrators. We coordinate many student events, including Homecoming & Pepfest, provide students with experience in representative government, and develop leadership skills.

Tabletop Gaming
Tabletop Gaming Club is a place to enjoy the hobby of playing board games and role-playing games. In the club, students will create new friendships and find new players for their favorite games. Come join us for Tabletop Gaming!
CTSOs

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) enhance student learning through contextual instruction, leadership and personal development, applied learning and real world application.
CTSOs work as an integral component of the classroom curriculum and instruction, building upon employability and career skills and concepts through the application and engagement of students in hands-on demonstrations and real life and/or work experiences through a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. CTSO’s help guide students in developing a career path, a program of study and provide opportunities in gaining the skills and abilities needed to be successful in those careers through CTSO activities, programs and competitive events. In addition, students have opportunities to hold leadership positions at the local, state, and national level and attend leadership development conferences to network with other students as well as business and industry partners.

Business Professionals of America (BPA)
Business Professionals of America is a Co-curricular organization that has the goal of contributing to the preparation of a world class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. Through competition at the local, state, and national level, in business skills, BPA provides members the opportunity to develop poise, self-confidence, personal responsibility, and overall positive work attitudes.

DECA
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
With a 75-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. Their strong connection with our organization has resonated into a brand that people identify as a remarkable experience in the preparation of emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. DECA’s programs and activities have constantly evolved as we use the latest technology and apply cutting edge educational research. Our core focus has remained consistent and is captured in our mission.

FCCLA
FCCLA or Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

JDG (Jobs for Delaware Graduates)
Jobs for Delaware Graduates, Inc. (JDG) is a school-to-work transitional program, dedicated to helping youth who face challenges reach academic and economic success. Our program works with middle and high school students to expose youth to emerging careers and higher levels of education and training. Students who participate in JDG receive weekly in-class instruction, credit towards graduation, leadership development, community service, personal enrichment, career coaching, and access to internships, job shadowing, and work experiences.

The Technology Student Association enhances personal development, leadership, and career opportunities in STEM, whereby members apply and integrate these concepts through intracurricular activities, competitions, and related programs.
