Beau DellaVella, a 5th grader at Delaware School for the Deaf, has been selected as the winner of the 5th-grade essay contest hosted by the Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder Company! This year's essay theme for 5th graders was "Fire Safety in the Kitchen."

Beau went through the entire writing process and did an excellent job with his essay! Then he realized something was missing – the essay wasn’t bilingual – so Beau, with the assistance of his teacher Kelli Adasko, created an informational video to accompany it.

In recognition of his achievement, Beau, along with his family, teacher, and school administrators, were invited to a special awards ceremony at the Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder Company Hall. At this event, the top winners from each grade will compete for the opportunity to advance to the county level and potentially to the state level.

Congratulations, Beau!!
