Our Focus: The Oberle School Leadership Priority Plan

Our school leadership is guided by a clear vision for student success, which is outlined in the Oberle School Leadership Priority Plan. Our three main goals are:

• Whole Child: Implementing a Social Emotional Learning curriculum, Second Step, with fidelity to cultivate self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness in our students.
• Teaching and Learning: Intensifying our focus on ELA and Math instruction through restructured Professional Learning Communities and Professional Development schedules, emphasizing lesson internalization and small group instruction.
• Community Pride: Developing a collaborative school culture that involves all stakeholders, including students, staff, families, and the wider community.

A First for Delaware: AVID Elementary School

Oberle Elementary is the first elementary school in Delaware to implement the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. AVID is a research-based framework that equips students with the skills and habits they need for college and career readiness. Through AVID, our students learn to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop strong organizational and study skills. This program is integrated into all grade levels to ensure that from their first day with us, our students are on a path toward future success.

A World of Possibilities: Dual Language Immersion

Our Dual Language Immersion Program provides students with the unique opportunity to become bilingual and biliterate in both English and Spanish. This program not only builds a strong foundation in a second language but also enhances cognitive development, fosters cultural awareness, and prepares our students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

Fostering a Positive Community: PBS School

At Oberle, we believe that a positive school environment is crucial for student success. As a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) school, we focus on explicitly teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors. This creates a safe, respectful, and supportive atmosphere where students feel valued and can concentrate on their learning.
