Assistant Principal's Message

  •

    Dear Marshall Families and Guardians,

It is with great excitement and joy that I greet you as Marshall's Assistant Principal. I am looking forward to collaborating with Mr. Pope in the coming weeks and months as we prepare to serve you as your new administrative team. It is an honor and a privilege to serve the Marshall school community.

I come to you with 10 years of school leadership experience, with 5 years in elementary, 3 years in secondary, and 2 years serving as Delaware Department of Education and Christina School District’s dual language immersion coach and curriculum specialist. Prior to moving to the area, I served as the Assistant Principal in the Bellevue School District at Somerset Elementary School and Jing Mei Elementary School. I have also taught EL to language learners at the elementary and secondary levels and have served as a reading specialist for Seattle Public Schools. My passion is in growing teachers, working collaboratively with school-wide teams, and developing academic, social-emotional learning, and behavioral supports for all of our Marshall students. Specifically, I look forward to learning alongside Mr. Pope and plan cohesively to meet the needs of every Marshall scholar. I am also excited to reinforce the 7 Habits as a Leader in Me school and foster student-driven instruction and rigorous learning.

I believe in reinforcing and authentically celebrating all of our students’ cultures and identities and collaborating with you to continue the work of growing their sense of belonging at Marshall. I am a first-generation immigrant from Taipei, Taiwan and am someone who understands first-hand the needs of our English language learners and multilingual learners. I hope to honor all of our Marshall diverse students and serve them and our families equitably and honorably.

In the coming weeks and months, I will be working hard with Mr. Pope to plan for the next school year and look forward to meeting you and your children during the 2022-2023 school year. In the meantime, wishing you a wonderful and relaxing summer!

    Warmly,

    Helen
