• The Superintendent Student Advisory Council promotes teamwork and collaboration with our student leaders.
  
  
• The student perspective provides direct insight and input. The collaboration allows students to share, collaborate, and communicate effectively around strategies and solutions to improve school outcomes for all students.

• Students in grades 9-12^th
• Students selected by school teams based on demonstrated leadership potential/capacity
• Each traditional high school (CHS, GHS, NHS) selected a student representative from each grade level. Students had the option to decline the nomination
• SPA selected two student representatives: one to serve for Newark areas and the other for Wilmington area students
• SPA Virtual Academy selected two student representatives
• Membership is for one year and student representatives currently in grades 9-11 will have the opportunity to continue to serve as a ‘consult’ throughout their years in CSD

• Attend each session
• Work with administration of your respective school to capture, report, and help to generate solutions to student concerns
• Be present and responsive to the group’s norms:

During our first meeting, the students identified the priority areas that they want to focus on this year. The big areas of focus for the year are:

• Process to curriculum adoption and exploration on how to make learning more relevant
• School finance and budget work
• Supporting social and emotional needs of students
• How to build my leadership capacity
• Working with school administration on ideas to improve schooling
