Alliance for a Healthier Generation 2011
Alliance for a Healthier Generation
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation works to address one of the nation’s leading public health threats—childhood obesity. The goal of the Alliance is to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity by 2015, and to empower kids nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices. Founded in 2005 by the American Heart Association and William J. Clinton Foundation, the Alliance works to positively affect the places that can make a difference in a child’s health: homes, schools, doctor’s offices, and communities.
Healthy Schools Program
Schools are powerful places to shape the health, education and well-being of our children. That is why the Alliance’s Healthy Schools Program supports more than 14,000 schools across the U.S. in their efforts to create environments where physical activity and healthy eating are accessible and encouraged.
The Alliance provides expert advice and resources for school professionals, teachers and students in addition to information specifically for parents. Parents serve as key role models in the home and they can also help ensure that health is a priority at their child’s school.
